The Appraisal Day . . . :P

If you have ever worked in a private firm then you might have gone through a fascinating day called "The Appraisal Day". :P

The most awaited day after 1 year Upps!! No I mean 12 months, Uppss again!! No I mean 48 weeks !!! ... extremely sorry but 365 days ##!!.. More precisely 8760 hours.. :D :D This day is par above all the rest of the days, something more than your anniversary (Unless wife forcefully reminds you). ;) :P Because the ultimate output for the next 1 year will be your hike, beautifully imprinted in your accounts credit history and most importantly the notification message every single month.. :)

Unless otherwise if this wasn't supposed to be my very first appraisal, I guess I wouldn't have considered sharing it. :) Nevertheless, it was a funny day for me since I stared at everyone else and tried to learn the anxiety of it. :P :P I absolutely had no expectations in my mind and felt it as any other normal day. The day starts with a frowning look at your managers wondering what appraisal has he given (when we look at them, there are absolutely no chances of getting a positive thought in our mind ). :D :D

Annhh!!! Lemme think, where should I start from... !!##@$$%!???? The process started following the spring season when flowers bloom waiting for the couples to pick them and we single engineers break our fat heads on self appraisal. Yes, the start was a mail confirming the activation of self- appraisal portal and all of us were supposed to fill it before a deadline. All the procedure and related guidelines were explained in the mail with quite a few snapshots making it easy for the first time users.

As engineers have always been, they don't complete anything until they find their ass on fire. :D :D So having given almost a month time to finish, I actually didn't show much interest and filled it on the last day about two hours before the start of next day. :P :P :D We KVians have the capability to do it very effectively. :P Or else if you can imagine Design Engineers being very busy with the workload and not able find time to finish the formality is all fine with me. :P :P

After all the gruesome days and dubious smile at managers, the next step was to wait for the managers to review, interview and approve our self appraisal. Having done with all that, it was the final day. "The Appraisal Day".

The day was accompanied with a mixture of anxiety and ecstasy. I noticed and learned that we are supposed to act normal, as if there had never been any single thought about the appraisal which is absolutely untrue. :D :D The moment I heard someone receiving the appraisal letter, I immediately jumped in and logged in my system. I looked in our site and opened up the letter. The letter was a two sheet reflection of my last year performance and rating. I slowly started reading from the very start of the letter, sentence by sentence, word by word, trying to understand the companies market with a broader mindset. Reading thoroughly alone with a lot of patience lies the most awaited numbers.  :D :D Since I had not expected anything, I was calm and there was no reaction on my face. Though there was a pinch of secret excitement and happiness. :P :)

The fun began when I finished reading the letter. To my amazement the so called idea of me reading my letter alone was just an imagination. The moment I turned back after reading, I noticed there were about 10-12 of my colleagues gazing at my screen and they were reading too all the time behind my back while I was reading. !@## BOOM!!##@! I was so shocked to know that they were all so keen to know my rating more than their own. :D :D Ha. Ha.. LoL.. I could immediately recall my seniors words, according to which we are not supposed to share our hike with anyone. But in my case, it was just like an open book. :D :D Now, the most difficult part is to know how much others have received. Since they can easily fool me now as they already know the reference, that's my rating. :P :P That was all my first experience. See you in my next article. :) ;)
